Guesting with Inky and the Mane

A Transparent Guide for Visiting Artists

At Inky and the Mane, we warmly welcome out-of-town artists to guest with us in our comfortable, modern, and friendly studio space. We believe that fostering a dynamic exchange of talent enriches our creative environment, and we’re excited to offer guest artists the opportunity to work with us while enjoying the flexibility of our transparent bed rental model.

Whether you’re traveling from another city or country, we’ve made it easy to understand how our guesting system works. Below is everything you need to know before joining us for a guest spot.

Bed Rental Rates for Guest Artists

As a guest artist at Inky and the Mane, you’ll be using our bed rental model during your stay. This allows you to retain 100% of your earnings while only paying for the days or weeks you use. Our bed rental rates are as follows:

What’s Included

The rental fee includes a dedicated workspace for the time you’re here, as well as access to the shop’s equipment. Artists will need to provide their own personal supplies, such as needles and inks, as well as their tattoo guns.

Filling Your Guest Spot

We are a commission-only studio, and as such it is the guest artist’s responsibility to fill their own books during their time with us. We will do our part to promote your guest spot through our social media channels by sharing your portfolio, contact information, and any promotional materials you provide. However, it is crucial to actively engage your audience and ensure your calendar is booked during your stay.

Expectations and Studio Environment

At Inky and the Mane, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming and inclusive space. Our studio is known for its queer-friendly atmosphere, its modern and airy design, and its comfortable work environment. As a guest artist, you’ll be integrated into our culture of respect, creativity, and professionalism. We value collaboration and are excited to have you as part of our team, even if only for a short time.

Please note that if you are renting on a daily or weekly basis, you may need to share a station in a “hoteling” fashion with other guest artists or resident artists. Stations are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to work comfortably during their stay.

Promotion and Communication

Once your guest spot is confirmed, we’ll work with you to promote your visit. Please provide us with links to your portfolio, social media handles, and any specific images you’d like us to use for promotion. We recommend sharing details about your guest spot with your followers well in advance to give yourself the best chance of filling your schedule.

While we do our part to help, we want to be upfront that Inky and the Mane does not guarantee bookings or walk-in clients during your stay. However, we are committed to supporting your success by offering a professional, welcoming environment and promoting your work to our community.
